Each year, tens of millions of Canadians from coast to coast to coast wear a Poppy to honour, and Remember Canada’s fallen Veterans and to support those who served and continue to serve today. While Poppies are free, the Royal Canadian Legion truly appreciates your generous donations to the Poppy Campaign. Your contributions directly support Canada’s serving and retired Veterans and their families, while helping ensure Canada never forgets.

The Legion is assisting Veterans and their families every day through the Poppy Fund. Hear what some of them have to say:

“I am writing to thank you very much for your kind grant to assist in my purchase of a furnace for my home. Since my husband passed away, I have had so much bad luck until now. You are so considerate and compassionate that words cannot express how grateful I am to have received this money.”

“I really don’t know how to thank you for the funds you have sent to help my wife and I out with dental work, it will go along way in making us feel more comfortable around people. I will be able to smile again, and that makes me feel great! It couldn’t have come at a better time being Thanksgiving, it gives us more to be thankful for knowing that there are folks like you there that care.”

“I wanted to take a moment to thank you once again for all your assistance, kindness and patience with regards to the application for my father. We were ready to give up before you made contact. The past three months have been extremely hard on our family and the efforts by people like you keeps us going. Please know that you’ve made a difference and will never be forgotten. If you were in the same city, I’d come to thank you in person.”

“The Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund generously provided financial assistance to my mother to help cover the expense of purchasing hearing aids. For months prior, my mother’s failing hearing was a big safety concern for our family; we are so thrilled she is now able to maintain her independence and her confidence has returned. A sincere thank you for your kind and substantial contribution to her cause. You’ve helped restore our faith in the kindness of strangers.”

“Please accept my sincere and heart felt gratitude for your kindness in granting me the funds to purchase a much needed electric chair lift. Your caring communication has made my situation more bearable. When a Man, let alone a first line Soldier finally bears his soul, it should mean that those who truly help should listen and act appropriately. You do a special job and that requires a special man which you are, and I am grateful you were there for me! I cannot thank you enough for this help, something honestly I never believed would happen, my faith is rejuvenated!”

“Thank-you for everything you’ve done and are doing to help me. I have always had great respect for The Royal Canadian Legion, and even more so now that you’ve been the only ones to help me in a desperate time of need. Thank-you so very much. It has been a great comfort knowing you care and are helping me. I’ve never had to accept assistance for anything in my life. Thank-you for helping me handle this awful crisis.

This is just a small sampling of the thousands of real life stories of the Legion helping Veterans in cities, towns and communities across this country every year – help that would not have been possible without your generous donations to the Legion’s Poppy Campaign.

Thank you, Canada, for wearing a Poppy and for supporting our Veterans!

Did you know donations to the Poppy Fund are placed in Trust to be used solely for the care and benevolent support of Veterans and their dependants, and to help promote Remembrance? Poppy Funds are never used for general Branch administration or operations.  Learn more about how Poppy Funds are used
