Bill is an Ordinary Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia but now lives in Sarnia, Ontario where he has worked in the Maintenance and Turnaround field of the petro-chemical refinery business for more than 40 years. He has also been an active member of the Legion since 1978.
COMMUNITY / VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
Bill joined the Legion at Sarnia, Br. 62 in 1978 and has been elected to various positions at the branch, zone, district, provincial command levels. At the recent Dominion Convention in St John’s, NL in June 2016, Bill was elected as Dominion Command Chairman.
Bill is the son of a Korean War Veteran and he served in the Reserves for seven years with the First Hussars where he still remains active with the First Hussars Association.
Bill is employed by Chemfab Industries Inc. as a Senior Planner with nine years of service and he has more than 40 years of experience in the Maintenance and Turnaround field of the petro-chemical refinery business.
Bill received his secondary school graduation certificate from Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School in 1976 and he received his Ontario Industrial Mechanic certification in 1984 and he has taken a number of college courses relating to his profession.
Bill is married to his wife Laurie and later this year they will celebrate their 40th year of marriage. Bill and Laurie have two children, Sharon and Bill Jr. and they have seven grandchildren. Bill is an avid sports fan and they enjoy time with their family, travelling, the odd golf game and enjoying the peace on their deck when time permits.
Bill was awarded the Legion Meritorious Service Medal in 2010. He was also awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2002 and 2012 respectively.
